2 discoveries today: 1) Coupland has a new book! Generation A. Is on "To Buy" list. 2) The Twilight series is on the "Recommended Readings" shelf at uW Book Store. I was quite tempted to enquire the sales figures from the store staff. We are not in high school anymore.
Really, I think a rule of thumb when purchasing book is to avoid first person POVs at all costs. 99% Mary Sue / Gary Stu may be a modest estimate.

After watching 2012 yesterday, I have come to realize that I have a thing for blond tough Russian guys. I find the accent endearing.
"It's a big plane." "It's Russian."

I was reading my marketing text:
"... men and women have been shaving for thousands of years..."
And I thought "really? Thousands?"
Anyway. So I guess I'll hit wiki after reading this chapter then.

| Travel Woes |
[25 Apr 2009|11:06pm] |
So I was supposed to get home and wake up in my own bed tomorrow morning.
The plane left Toronto all nice and smooth, but there were apparently just "waves of thunderstorms" rolling in Chicago, so after about 2 hours of hanging around in the air, our flight got diverted to St. Louis to get gas, 'cept we spent about 1-2 more hours sitting at St.L doing nothing, and our original flight to Chicago is now "cancelled".
So now I'm sitting on a King in an airport Comfort Inn, with my doors bolted and waiting to get violentedly jolted up tomorrow morning at 4 to make to my 605 flight to Dallas then connect to Sacramento, arriving at 1, if I'm lucky.
Crossing my fingers...
This has been an exhausting day. Fscking hell nothing, I repeat, nothing good ever happens at O'Hare.

Arg. It's really getting on my nerves, the way my mother keeps getting upset and being over-sensitive about the most inane things.anc
ie. Me see book on Borders, sending dad the link and not cc her on it. Result: Refuse to speak to me on the phone. Annoyance. Scathing remarks on the side just loud enough for me to hear it.
ie. She may not come on vacation with us to Banff if her Work Permit comes in, and I didn't jump on the opportunity to tell her how important she is to our family and what a bleeding shame it'll be if she'd miss the trip and I should positively refuse to have fun if she's not there etc. etc. etc. Even if she was just at Banff and Calgary for a week with her old uni friend in June.
Result: Repetition of "I know you don't want me to come", "You are glad to hear that aren't you", "I know you've always liked your dad more", "I don't matter at all" etc. as guilt tripper. On a Sunday morning. When I was barely awake or aware when I took the call.
This anger will probably last for a few days. Now hopefully if I get her something when I go to the mall on Sat it'll appease her. It'll work best, of course, if I bought her some sort of awesomeness-in-a-bag and nothing for dad.
Ha. Ha. Ha.
I am really getting tired of pleasing to ease up her "nerves" and apologizing for my supposed insensitivities.

There was a man masterbating on the TTC subway this morning.
Ew. Ew. Ew. Ew. Ew.
Can't he wait?! Who the fsck gets aroused at friggin' 9 on a Saturday morning?!
My opinions of the Toronto citizens are very... conflicted atm.

| Spring forecast |
[09 Apr 2008|03:44pm] |
So finals are tomorrow, ending on the 17th. I fly off to Sacramento on the 18th noon, camp at Yosemite for 2 or 3 days, then fly back to the loo arriving on the morning of the 29th. And moving to Mississauga on the 30th, begin work on May 1st until August 29.
Coop is with Thomson MultiMedia, the dudes with GE and RCA and such. As a business analyst co-op student (that's my official title). The job seems challenging, if not from the actual content then the big corporation culture ness. Both of my bosses seem fairly satisfied from my interview, where I informed them of my "mean sandwich making" skill and my "weirdness". Apparently I seem very passionate about what I do. Heh. Of course.
So 4 months of 8:30 - 5 in business casual here I come. $15/h, 1.5X for overtime. I want money... T___T
The company's at the intersection between Hwy10 and Eglinton, very much near Square One (it's apparently the biggest mall in ON?). I'm subletting about 10min away from the company, in a 4-story townhouse (such thing exist?) with 4 guys and another girl. Good thing is that LCBO is about 5min from it, and I'm legal the 2nd week into work. HURRAY!
Bah. Moving's gonna be a pain. Need to find carpool on a Wednesday. T.T Times like these I really wished that I bought a car.
For that wish, I must begin saving to achieve my goal of having my own car by beginning 3rd year.
Anywho. I'm fscked for exams and need to begin studying again. Java is fun and all, but not when I have a business to operate and recruit, and labour relations to deal with. =0=

Ha. My profs are funky.
( Prof. Jim McCutcheon (Biz111) )
( Prof. Barbara Cseema (Algebra 135) )
So that was amusing. And I'm done Math 135 and 137 Ass#2, due on Wed and Fri respectively. More time for me to other crap like biz readings and econ readings and MyEconLab and junk! XP
PS. There is apparently a "billiards room" in the basement of my apartment building. I will venture down when I can get the keys. WIN!

| Sharing some math fun |
[20 Sep 2007|04:36pm] |
So I have this calc teacher for Math137. On the subject of range and domain of a function:
Prof. Peter Wood: (While drawing on the board to further convey his point) "Think of a function as a canon, the x-values are like canon balls, and the y values are happy innocent little villager people. The canon shoots, and the range of a function is the collection of all the happy innocent little villagers that 'got hit'." *laughs*
Funny how it's always the math teachers/profs that are hilarious in peculiar ways. *gags* He's great though. What's calculus without a little eccentricity? I still despise my Math135 algebra teacher, especially after the "chocolate bar" example that we spent 45min on about strong induction.
Prof. Barbara Cseema: "So a chocolate bar of x by y is broken into 2 smaller pieces. Do you guys wanna name the pieces?" *big huge wide smile* The class: "... ... = =|||"
